Word of the Week is a gentle self-care practice created for those navigating grief. Each week, one simple word is offered as an anchor — not to fix grief, but to support you through it. The word is meant to guide small, compassionate actions, quiet reflection, or moments of pause throughout your days. There is no right way to do this. Take what helps, leave what doesn’t, and let self-care be intentional, personal, and kind.

Word Of The Week

Word: Smile

Meaning: A smile doesn’t mean you’re okay.
Sometimes it’s just proof that you’re still here.

Small Actions:

  •  Look at yourself and smile — once a day.
We rarely see our own smile unless we’re looking in a mirror.
Just pause. Make eye contact with yourself. Smile. No judgment.
  • Practice smiling when no one is around.
It will feel awkward. Maybe even wrong.
That’s okay. Let your body remember the feeling anyway.
  •  Share your smile — gently.
When you’re out, intentionally smile at one person.
No expectation. Just notice what happens.

Reflection (optional):

How did I honor this word this week?

Let’s talk about it Sunday.
